Hosmer Winery is a fully functioning estate winery, everything from planting and growing the grapes, to picking, pressing and bottling is done on site. As a farm, we cultivate 70 acres of grapes with over 14 varieties and growing. Our belief in wine making and grape growing are parallel and continuing and we strive to maintain preservation of the land and the fruit form vine to table. Our passion for what we do is exemplified through the creation of our memorable wines.   2. The grapes that are selected for the Limited Release Riesling are the grapes with the most unique flavors and varietal characters. Thise is a rich deep wine with an ample palate weight and texture.     This wine is layered with aromas of white clover, buckwheat fields, and sun-ripened apricots. It leads the palate to honest flavors of honey crisp apples, kefir lime, and tangerines, a distinct flavor profile for Riesling vines of the Cayuga Lake Appellation.

  5. Our 2016 Single Wheel Dry Riesling is a well-balanced, bright wine. It radiates juiciness and Riesling fruit character, while maintaining a sturdy backbone of minerality: a soft spoken flavor of Bosc pear and white peach.   6. Hosmer Winery’s Bâtonnage Riesling is a white wine produced of 100% Riesling. The fruit for this Riesling came from the “Shop Block” on Hosmer’s property. Post-fermentation this 100-gallon tank was left on its lees until August. Every 7-10 days the lees were stirred to build aroma complexity and mouth-feel in the wine. This wine is an experimental Riesling, playing with the idea that a dry Riesling can have a creamy and textural palate from lees contact instead of sugar. This is a wine that should have long aging potential due to the acid and texture in the wine. Learn More
  7. Hosmer Winery’s Wild Ferment Riesling is a white wine produced of 100% Riesling. The fruit for this Riesling came from the “North Block” on Hosmer’s property. Post-fermentation this 55-gallon tank was left on its lees until August. This wine is an experimental Riesling, playing with the idea that a wild ferment (or uninoculated ferment) achieves a different complexity in the midpalate when compared to a ferment inoculated with cultured yeast. This is a very restrained wine coming from a concentrated year which will begin to develop immensely over the course of a year in the bottle.

    For those that prefer a heavier bodied, oaked Chardonnay our 2015 Limited Release Chardonnay begins with the bright, full and supple texture of ripe apples and offers a full, buttery richness and a smooth oak profile. Toasted caramel on the edges round out the mid palate with a creamy vanilla finish. The Limited Release Chardonnay is only produced in years with exceptional growing conditions in order to maintain the highest level of quality. The grapes are handpicked and the wine is aged in barrels for 6 months. Because of these precise and labor-intensive winemaking practices, we only made an exclusive 100 cases.

  15. 2017 Dry Rose

    The 2017 Hosmer Dry Rose is a wine that reflects the delicacy of a cooler vintage. It is made from Cabernet Franc, vines of which have been grown on the Hosmer farm for over 25 years. The color exhibits a rich shade of pink due to the 24-hour cold soak. The nose offers white cherry and hints of mulberry with the palate moving towards strawberry and red raspberry flavors.   24. A sweet and luscious fortified dessert wine made with an abundance of fresh red raspberries. Richly aromatic and intensely flavorful, it is perfect to sip after a special meal. To taste it says it all. ADULT RASPBERRY HOT CHOCOLATE INGREDIENTS 10 ounces milk chocolate chips 1½ cup whole milk ½ cup heavy cream ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Hosmer Raspberry Royale, to taste, plus another ⅓ cup for reducing Whipped cream and raspberries, to top DIRECTIONS Add everything but the Raspberry Royale, whipped cream, and raspberries to a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally until the chocolate completely melts. After the chocolate melts, continue to cook, but stir more frequently. The mixture should thicken a bit and all of the chunks should dissolve. After 5-10 minutes, remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. As it cools, add ⅓ cup of Raspberry Royale to another small saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Cook for a few minutes, until the Royale has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon. Don't overcook, or it will become hard like candy, rather than syrupy, which is what we want. Pour the hot chocolate into little mugs (servings should be small because it is so rich), add Raspberry Royle to your liking, and top with whipped cream.
