The Hosmer Family

Owners Cameron and Maren Hosmer stand amid their vineyard with son Timothy Hosmer, daughter Anna Hosmer and pup Gully. The vines you see in the background were planted by Cameron over 40 years ago, when he started Hosmer Winery on a farm that had been in his family since the 1920's. In the 40 year since those first vines were put in the ground, the Hosmer family has gained notoriety as one of the pioneers in the Finger Lakes wine region, with a dedication to sustainable farming and forward thinking. Now with the incorporation of son Timothy Hosmer and his business Benchmark Custom Vineyard Planting, the Hosmer's involvement and dedication to the Finger Lakes wine industry continues to grow.
Aaron Roisens’ aspirations to achieving a Finger Lakes wine making pedigree did not come to him in a fever dream, but as a realization over a decade ago to bring agricultural diversity, change, and adventure to his home state of Minnesota. Initially Aarons’ interests were more devoted to viticulture as he attended the fabled Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in New Zealand, but soon shifted towards a direction of winemaking after his first harvest in 2002 at Marlborough vintners. Upon finishing school Aaron took to the skies to fill the position of assistant winemaker at Lamoreaux Landing wine cellars in Lodi, New York. After two vintages, Aarons’ services were requested once again in 2004 in New Zealand, to be part of a custom crush facility, South Pacific cellars. After finishing what was the largest harvest Roisen had experienced it was back to New York to reprise the role as assistant winemaker at Atwater Estate vineyards. Following three vintages at Atwater Estate, an opportunity to fill the position as head winemaker at Hosmer was presented to Aaron. Naturally, Aaron, accepted the position and 2007 marked the beginning of his career as head winemaker for Hosmer Winery.
The Vineyard Crew
Meet the gentlemen that make everything possible at Hosmer Winery. Cameron Hosmer and his son Tim Hosmer work meticulously with experienced vineyard managers Matt Carfora, as well as winemaker Aaron Roisen in order to maintain our renown 70 acre vineyard. This small crew assures that every vine is healthy, strong and capable of producing the quality of fruit we deem necessary to process and turn into wine.
