Cameron and Maren Hosmer

The Owners

Owners Cameron and Maren Hosmer are quite literally surrounded by the vineyard they planted nearly 40 years ago. In the time since those first vines were put in the ground, the Hosmer family has gained notoriety as one of the pioneers in the Finger Lakes wine region, with a dedication to sustainable farming and forward-thinking. Now with the incorporation of son Timothy Hosmer, the Hosmer’s involvement and dedication to the Finger Lakes wine industry continues to grow.

Tim Hosmer

Vineyard Manager and Owner of Benchmark Planting

Tim Hosmer, the next generation of the Hosmer family, is an esteemed member of the wine industry. Not only does he work closely with our staff to oversee vineyard and tasting room operations, but he works with many of our neighboring wineries, as well. Owning and operating one grape harvester out of a handful in the Finger Lakes, he is incredibly busy during Harvest! For 15 years, Tim carried his knowledge of viticulture over to his own business, Benchmark Custom Vineyard Planting, with which he traveled the East Coast utilizing state-of-the-art GPS guided vineyard planting equipment. Nowadays, Tim takes a backseat in planting and has taken the reins in leading the vineyard crew here at Hosmer. Together with Maren & Cameron, the Hosmer family upholds their reputable name within the industry and continues to push boundaries.

Julia Hoyle

The Winemaker

Born in Philadelphia, Julia Hoyle found herself in the Finger Lakes by way of Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she studied French and Women’s Studies. In 2009, as a college student, she took a job in the tasting room at Fox Run Vineyards on Seneca Lake. After taking interest in cellar operations, Julia spent a harvest in the cellar at Atwater Winery before taking a full-time position as assistant winemaker at Sheldrake Point Winery in December of 2013. She came to Hosmer in 2016. Julia’s winemaking style focuses on the quality of fruit with as little as possible added to the wine, in order to make it reflective of the soil, grape, season, and growing conditions. She is very excited about “our extremely diverse and expanding Riesling portfolio” and “our estate red vinifera, especially the Hosmer Cabernet Franc”!

Brooke Morsch

General Manager

Originally from New Jersey, Brooke fell in love with the Finger Lakes region while attending Ithaca College and never looked back. Brooke started her journey with Hosmer Winery in 2017 as a Tasting Room Associate while she was obtaining her master’s degree in Accounting. While working in public accounting for three years, Brooke continued to help in the tasting room on events and busy weekends. Working in the food and beverage industry since she was 16, she could never go too long before she would start to miss the excitement of a busy night waiting on tables or a busy day behind the tasting bar. Excited to be back full-time, Brooke hopes to continue providing the consistent quality of service, product, and experience as Hosmer continues to grow. When not in the tasting room, Brooke can be found knitting on the couch cozied up with her cat and dog or out for a run in the vineyard.

Genevieve Chase

Tasting Room Manager

As one of Hosmer Winery’s veteran employees, Genevieve’s knowledge of all things “Hosmer” goes unmatched.  She is quick to greet you with a smile upon entry and prides herself on providing customers with a fun and educating tasting experience.  Her passion for food and flavor drew her to the wine industry, but the unpredictability of the day-to-day keeps her in it. Event planning is her specialty, which shows on our event days like Some Like it Hot, as she keeps busy. Her two boys occupy her time outside of work, but when she does have time to explore she enjoys visiting other local establishments around the Finger Lakes.

Emily

Assistant Wine Maker

Emily is very excited to be joining the team at Hosmer, and for the opportunity to work with estate fruit from vine to bottle. She has been fascinated by wine – particularly aromatic wine – since blogging about it as a student who could only sniff, not taste. She loves the FLX region for the high acidity, the challenges of cool-climate winemaking, and the sense of community. Before 2020, she traveled extensively to dance Argentine tango (and drink a lot of Malbec). Post-work, she can be found experimenting with photography, cooking and baking, writing and editing, or relaxing with beverage in hand. She loves snails and has had several as pets.

We love, love, love our wine educators! Stop by Hosmer Winery to taste and chat with our knowledgeable crew about the Finger Lakes region, the grapes we grow, and the wine we make. Everyone has a different background and reasons for why they got into the wine industry, but they share a love of wine and we are lucky to have them here!

We can’t have wine without grapes! Meet the crew that keeps our vines safe and healthy. Timothy Hosmer, Joe Marconi and Matt O’Mara make up our team of year-round grape gurus. This crew helps prevent disease and keep an eye on our ~67,000+ vines so Hosmer Winery can remain a fully-functioning estate winery. As we always say, “great wine begins in the vineyard”.
